The Energy from Waste Middle East conference has, uniquely, three site visits – one on Tuesday evening 25th November and two on Wednesday 26th November.

Sharjah Waste to Energy plant

The Sharjah Waste-to-Energy plant is the First Of Its Kind in the UAE and closes the loop on waste that is deemed non-recyclable, contributing to a zero-waste future while also producing clean energy. Complementing integrated, digitally enabled recycling at BEEAH’s award-winning Waste Management Complex, the Sharjah Waste to Energy plant receives and processes 300,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste annually while producing a 30 MWh of electricity, enough power for the equivalent of 28,000 homes. The Sharjah Waste to Energy plant has contributed to a 90% landfill waste diversion rate in Sharjah, the highest in the Middle East, moving closer to achieving total waste diversion.

Warsan Waste Management Centre

The Ambitious Warsan Waste Management Strategy Has Begun. Set to convert 1.9 Million tonnes a year of Municipal residual solid waste into sustainable energy, the Warsan Waste Management Centre is being billed as the world’s largest Energy from Waste facility to date. Operating at the Warsan site in Dubai, the project will convert 5,666 tonnes of residual solid waste every day into 200 MW of electricity. The sustainable energy produced will be capable of providing power to 135,000 homes, which is roughly 2% of the annual electricity consumption in Dubai.

Waste Into Energy Abu Dhabi Waste to Energy Plant, as part of the road map for sustainable waste management practices in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, will be able to transform municipal solid waste into electricity. The facility has an installed capacity to generate 80MW of electricity.
