Nuru Lama is the Global Sector Lead for Waste & Circularity and a Chief Investment Officer at International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. In this role, Nuru focuses on accelerating the adoption of sustainable waste management practices in emerging markets through IFC’s advisory engagements, investments, and capital mobilization to support projects across the waste-value-chain, partnering with project developers, waste management companies and municipalities. Nuru joined the World Bank Group (WBG) in 2005 and has worked on a range of infrastructure investments across developing countries, and previously led the Global Energy team at IFC.
