
Dr. Udayan Banerjee, is a Sustainability and Decarbonization expert, with more than 39 Years of rich experience in the field, primarily working for Regulatory Authorities, leading multinational consulting firms Ernst & Young and ERM, major Waste to Value Projects and Oil & Gas industry as well as World Bank.
Dr. Udayan is a Chartered Waste & Resource Manager from the Chartered Institute of Waste Management, UK.
Dr. Udayan was advisor to the Director General of Abu Dhabi Waste Management Center - Tadweer. He has played a leading role in drafting the Waste Sector Policies, Environmental Standards and Guidelines for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, UAE. He has been member of several National level task force committees for the UAE National Waste Policies & Strategies.
Dr. Udayan was the Technical Advisor for the Abu Dhabi Waste to Energy project from feasibility study to the award of the DBO contract. As Technical Advisor, he has been steering two MSW to Sustainable Aviation Fuel projects in the region.
As National Policy Lead, he has drafted the Environment Permitting Policy and Regulatory Framework for the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India. As part of World Bank assignments, he has also contributed to regulatory review and re-structuring of regulatory institutional mechanisms for several developed as well as developing countries.
Dr. Udayan has been the Jury member of the Middle East Waste & Recycling Awards since season 1.
Dr. Udayan was Professor of Environmental Management in Calcutta University, India and has been associated with World Bank and Asian Development Bank for various National Level Policy & Institutional Capacity Building assignments.
